British Dyslexia Association (BDA)

 
The vision of the British Dyslexia Association is a dyslexia friendly society enabling all dyslexic people to reach their potential.

They aim to provide advice and support to dyslexic individuals and those who require more information about dyslexia. They also provide a nationally recognised set of standards for the accreditation of dyslexia knowledge and professional expertise. They provide up-to-date information on current research and share best practice regionally, nationally and internationally.

Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ)

 

Formed in 2004 the JCQ consists of AQA, City and Guilds, CCEA, Edexcel, OCR, SQA and WJEC the seven largest providers of qualifications in the UK offering GCSE, GCE, GNVQ, AEA, Entry level, Basic and Key Skills, Vocational and Vocationally-related qualifications.

 

The JCQ was formed to enable the member awarding bodies to act together to provide common administrative arrangements for the schools, colleges and other providers that offer their qualifications.

 

The JCQ works with the experts from each of the awarding bodies to develop and agree the regulations and arrangements.

The Dyslexia Guild

The Dyslexia Guild is a professional body with open membership, which welcomes individuals with an interest in dyslexia. These may include those who have attended our training courses, other specialist teachers, psychologists, speech and language therapists, special needs teachers and classroom teachers in mainstream schools.

The aim of the Dyslexia Guild is to keep members up to date with developments in the field and to encourage networking/contact between members.

The Dyslexia Guild is authorised to award Practising Certificates to suitably qualified teachers entitling them to carry out assessments and write reports in support of applications for Disabled Student Allowances
